splitting the party

verb. When a party of characters decides to separate, usually to cover more ground, but sometimes because of divergent strategies and/or heated debate (PvP).

Usually denotes a problematic within roleplaying sessions, as splitting the party usually wastes someone's time unless a DM is ballsy enough to run two scenes in parallel.

Scooby Doo has hundreds of examples of "splitting the party," for example:

Velma Dinkley: trying to find Shaggy and Scooby I think we should split up.
Fred Jones: Good Idea!
Daphne Blake: I'll go with Beau.
Fred Jones: frowning Bad idea!

An activity that one witnesses that has no appeal at face value to anyone of any culture. This can be related to the McDonalds commercials featuring "Hip" young people partying with nothing but Chicken Mcnuggets. Once you ask yourself, "Who is this supposed to appeal to?" you now know you can apply that to many situations and now have a name for it.

Man, that all-hands meeting was a fucking Mcnugget party. Who listens to Fatboy Slim these days?

Party Doctor

Colloquial term for medical professionals at the forefront of a cultural phenomenon indigenous to Kingston, Jamaica. These individuals are residents-in-training who concurrently promote social events with equal vigor. It is not abundantly clear to the untrained eye whether the ulterior motive of their "second job" is accelerating social mobility or soliciting future patients.

"The party doctor has a long weekend ahead of him. He is booked for surgery on Saturday morning and will be attending a pool party, that he promoted, on the same evening. His assistant recently informed me of this.
