Not everyone that lives here year around is rich, most people are Upper middle class or above. MV is very expensive for a nice small house it is about 700k +, but you pay for where you live. Mv is a great place, that I strongly recommend on visiting. (If you come stay in Oak bluffs and Edgartown those are best towns.)
