Pull a Thrace

A phrase used casually to describe when someone or something disappears without explanation or justification, especially mid-conversation.

Derived from the disappearance of Kara Thrace (Starbuck) while in mid-conversation with Lee Adama (Apollo) on the series finale of Battlestar Galactica

"Hey Dad, can you pay for my... Oh, I think he just pulled a Thrace."

"Oops, my signal died, didn't mean to pull a Thrace..."

Pull a bruno

To leave a company as an employee only to come back within a 3-4 month span, much to the ridicule and insults of everyone who is still there.

Expression used widely in the Montreal area.

Hey, did you hear? Marty's coming back. I would never pull a bruno!

Pull a Mr. Rogers

When you get home after a day out and change into house clothes. Taking off pants and putting on a more comfortable pair, as well as shoes and a shirt. Usually these clothes are old and extremely comfortable.
Mr. Rogers did it in the beginning of his show and it never made sense until I got old.

Damn work sucked I can't wait to get home and pull a Mr. Rogers.

I'll be right out I need to pull a Mr. Rogers.

Pull a Mubarak

To shut down the internet in an attempt to restore order and regain control. Coined from Egyptian dictator Hosni Mubarak's attempt to silence the Egyptian people during the 2011 Egyptian riots.

"Pull a Mubarak": The school administrators realized that we'd been using the computers to do non work-related tasks like checking Facebook and playing games, so they pulled a Mubarak on us all.
