In a scene where an actor is actoring, that person's focus on winning an award is what comes through to the audience, rather than the character that the actor is supposed to be playing. Actoring most often happens in an emotional scene full of tears, during a monologue, or while the actor is staring into space contemplatively and wistfully, but actoring can be done in almost any scene that involves a long close-up shot of the thespian's face. Most actors will actor at most once or twice during the entire run of a television show or in a single movie. But some people, such as Nicolas Cage, have a special talent for actoring.

Man, I'm tired of being my parents' paid actor with insanely strict screen time limits imposed by them. I'm only allowed to have 2 hours of screen time per day, which is only enough to speedrun the 1990 game "Ultima VI: The False Prophet" — and nowhere near enough to play any modern-day AAA video game.
