Madonna syndrome

A condition named after an American female pop icon who suddenly developed a British accent after living in England for a few months. Symptoms lessen over time but may persist for years. In addition to the fake accent, symptoms may include referring to "soccer" as " "football"; failing to tip in restaurants and saying "cheers" instead of "thanks" long after the accent has disappeared.

"I was watching Johnny Depp on Letterman the other night and I could have swore he was speaking with a British accent, is he from England?"

"No, he's American, he's from Kentucky."

"Ahh, he must have Madonna syndrome."

(adj.) A person who refuses to use their last name in signature file, voicemail, email address or website. In doing so, claims 1st name status like the singer Madonna, and also suffers from Madonna-ish complex that he/she is so important, they do not need to use a last name because everyone should just know who they are; Creates confusion and frustration in corporate environments.

Madonna

A musician who in many ways is overrated but is undeniably one of the most influential artists of our time. Most of her music from the 80's was pretty awful, but she peaked in the late 90's and early 2000's. Many of her songs are earnest and heartfelt. She plays guitar, writes her own songs, and knows how to market herself to her full potential.

1) Ray of Light, Music, and American Life are wonderful albums by Madonna.

2) Madonna should not be judged because of her age. Who else at 50 has a body like hers?

3) Madonna does not hate Christianity; it is a motif found in many of her songs and is not referred to unkindly.

4) Although it was slightly disappointing to many fans that Madonna had collaborated on her latest album with much-overrated producer Timbaland, the album is actually quite decent and features a number of good songs.

Former pro wrestler turned rapper. Talks about having American dreams, but is from Canada (see Kid Rock). Occasionally peddles easily debunked conspiracy theories to a gullible audience. Complains about indoctrination, but wants you to buy his album. Also has occasionally expressed transphobia. Is currently allied with another "rapper" who's complained about not being able to use slurs against black and gay people while carrying the usual conservative victim card.
