A situation in which the excess space existing on a couch or loveseat, which is partially occupied by two or more persons, is not being utilized due to the possible return of an occupant.

Garrett: I don't think he's coming back. Move over and give us some room.
Patrick: He's probably about to come back. Just hold on.

(ten minutes later)

Garrett: The flarny in this situation causes me stress and undue pain.

Apparently can survive in absolute zero with no air and enter hyperspace, as it attacks a spaceship while it's in flight.
