wreck the gaff

In Dublin slang it means a night of mayhem. Gaff means house, therefore by the end of the night of drinking/taking drugs/ talking rubbish to people you don't know, the house or flat will have been destroyed. You must say it in a grating working class Dublin accent for full effect. Since Dublin clubs close ridiculously early, people are forced to gather in someone's house or flat (often someone they don't know at all but that's not important) and drink and take drugs until a) everything is gone b) they pass out or sometimes c) wait until the off licences open the next day so they can start wrecking the gaff even more.

It was a great night, we wrecked the gaff.

Big Blue Wrecking Crew

The Big Blue Wrecking Crew is a nickname used to refer to the defense for the New York Giants during the 1980s that won two Super Bowl Championships, the first in Super Bowl XXI in 1987 and the other in Super Bowl XXV in 1991. A 3-4 defense, it was among the greatest NFL defenses of all time, and featured Lawrence Taylor as its star, considered by many to be the greatest defensive player in NFL history.

While anchored by Taylor the unit also featured Giants greats such as Hall of Famer Harry Carson, Carl Banks, Gary Reasons, Leonard Marshall, George Martin, and Jim Burt. With Bill Parcells and Bill Belichick coaching, the Big Blue Wrecking Crew was innovative in it's style of play. Unique at the time, this team tailored it's scheme to the offense of the opposing team something commonplace today.

wreck shop

1. (verb)- the act of destruction upon anything
2. (verb)- describing a state of complete annihilation and own-age
3. As a substitution for the word rally, "I'm going to go in there and wreck shop on those fools" as opposed to "I'm going in to rally them"

4. The phrase "wreck shop" is believed to have been originated in the early 17th century in the Swiss Alps, where an old man who had been working in the same workshop for the past 47 years (rumors are unclear of whether he was a shoemaker or jeweler, another popular story is he made watches but whatever the case he made preformed some tedious actions to make the same product over a long period of time). After his years of faithful servitude he one day lost his mind and threw tools and benches all over the place creating mass destruction to his working environment. Because of his unpredicted actions of havoc the shop was never re-constructed and was believed to be cursed. This led to the use of the combination of the two common words "wreck" and "shop" to describe an event of mass local destruction. The phrase went out of saying in around 1654 but came into rapid reemergence in the late 21st century in Santa Cruz California. Wrecking Shop can be compared to the once popular phrase of “Going Postal” only “going postal” usually involves homicide while “wrecking shop” refers to destruction (although it can be stressed to include human destruction).

1. After the CIA broke into the 36 year old drug dealer's pad and overturned every item insight, breaking into filing cabinets and pictures the left the scene empty handed. Upon returning to his crib the drug dealer quickly called his mentor a Columbian drug lord describing the situation by saying "the po-pos just wrecked shop upon my place" (notice the contradiction between the police and the CIA is intentional to undermine the intelligence of 36 year old drug dealers).
2.After beating the victim senseless and robbing him of all valuables the bandits deciding a state of shop wreckage (note the word order can be switched only in a group of common "wreck shop" phrase users). had occurred and left him in peace.

Wrestling

Wrestling is a sport as old as mankind itself. Since the dawn of time men have been pitted against each other in physical hand-to-hand combat, making this almost certainly the most ancient of Olympic sports. Greeks immortalized wrestling on their coins and first introduced it as an event in their Olympic Games in 776 BCE. Turkish mercenaries taught the Persians the finer points of wrestling during the early middle ages. Dubbed “koresh” its various techniques quickly spread throughout the Islamic nations. Europe and Brittany modified these early forms of wrestling to suit their own preferences of the day and Medieval knights even added wrestling to their fighting repertoire. It's a simple concept. Two men or women wrestle until one is declared the winner. Over the years, wrestling techniques have become more sophisticated and generally speaking the winner of any wrestling bout is the person who has the better technique, strength and overall fitness. Wrestling is split into Greco-Roman and Freestyle disciplines. In Freestyle wrestling the competitors have a much greater freedom. They can use not only their arms and bodies, but also their legs and can take a hold of their opponent anywhere that allows them to overpower and gain total control of them.

In Greco-Roman Wrestling, it is strictly forbidden to grasp the opponent below the belt line, or to trip him or to use the legs actively to perform any action. In Free Style wrestling, however, it is permissible to grasp the legs of the opponent, to trip him and to use the legs actively to perform any action. Female wrestling follows the rules of freestyle, forbidding however the Double Nelsons.
