value add

Term used in service and retail industries, meaning to connect a service or additional product to a product at no immediate cost to the buyer.

This cost is often included (read: hidden) in the base price, but is called out to make the customer feel as though they are getting more than they paid for.

The Local IT shop sells Dell computers at a markup, with the added value of onsite 24/7 service, phone support, and installation.

When you buy a "Set it and forget it," each of the "bonus gifts" you get, the apple slicer, the pairing knife, the butter churner, is a value add.

Black Volume

Term coined in reference to how black people generally indulge dialogue at a higher volume, than Caucasian counterparts.

There is no White equivalent term.

A: So why was residence security called?
B: Because the black people were up at 3am talking on their phones in corridors, music, general black volumes of talking etc . . .

Volume War

Any instance where two or more people fight to hear something such as a t.v. or another person.

i.e.

"Josh, turn down the t.v., I can't hear American Idol!"

*turns t.v. up*

*Josh turns t.v. up as well*

"Uh-oh, you just started a volume war."

the act of going to an eating establishment of the "fast food" variety and ordering a cornucopia of items off the value menu. saves money and very filling

Guy 1:What are you gonna order? I'm getting a big mac
Guy 2:Man I'm really hungry so I'm getting 2 mcdoubles, 2 mcchickens, 2 value fries, value drink, hot fudge sundae, and 2 apple pies. It gonna be a Value Menu Feast!

perceived value

Perceived value is an intangible measurement to define elitism or fortune. 1. A credit card company issues a black credit card by invitation only. A second credit card also issues a black credit card for a fee. Both cards are perceived value cards because they offer prestige for not apparent reason. 2. A leased luxury vehicle that is far too expensive to purchase. A perceived value car often sits unused for the final three months to avoid the fifty cent per mile surcharge.

"Bob placed his black credit card in plain sight before the waiter brought the check. The perceived value of the card inflated Bob's ego."

"Claire and her friends drove sixty miles from their perceived value gated community to Laguna Beach or lunch."

"Claire used her perceived value black credit card to cover lunch. Afterward, her friends laughed because she had the wrong type of black card."

"Thomas leased a $150K luxury coupe. He could barely make the payments, but the perceived value of the car turned lots of heads."
