When someone gives you what you think is a compliment but is really an insult.

Wow, I think my Mom just gave me a drop kick compliment yesterday. She tells me, "Out of all your siblings you are the prettiest, but your sister is the smartest".

I said, "Thanks, I think..."

A compliment overheard as you are walking past someone but you have no chance to respond thereby left with a missed connection.

She just commented on my new ink. I couldn't respond to her drive-by compliment in that crowd.

Someone who is complimentary about someone or something.

mompliment

An offshoot of the popular phrasing/joke "Your Mom" in which the mother is actually complimented rather than insulted. Often includes intricate run-on phrasing/sentences.

Example 1:

Guy 1: I really disliked our tour guide in NYC

Guy 2: Your mom could be a tour guide because I'm sure she has a wealth of knowledge to share with the world to make it a better place.

Guy 1: Thanks for the mompliment!

Example Two:

Girl 1: Wow, I'm feeling burnt out.

Girl 2: Your mom feels burnt out from shining so brightly for all the world to see and enjoy. She is a hopeful ray of light that we could only aspire to be half as luminous as her.

Girl 1: What a wonderful your mompliment!

Example 3:

Girlfriend: That baby looks funny

Boyfriend: Your mom looks funny especially when she's doing an incredible job at comedy where I basically pee my pants and she's so nice that she offers to buy me new slacks because she is the most generous and giving woman I have the ABSOLUTE pleasure to know... except for you baby

Girlfriend: You almost got yourself in the dog house for that slightly awkward and creepy mompliment. But thanks for the mompliment!

ninja compliment

When you compliment someone, but it first sounds like an insult, (and probably is). Called a ninja compliment because the compliment is in there, but it's as hard to find as a ninja.

Janet: "You look great now you're not so fat. Before you looked really bad"

Jane: "So, she said I looked really bad before, but I'm better now I'm not so fat."

Jill: "Wow, so a ninja compliment then...."

AC: Anonymous Compliments

A wonderful page ran by a sweet girl named Jess (hostileact) that is frequently being looked at/advertised/talked about on the Avatar Chat (AC). Basically, it's a huge page of compliments to certain people that is supposed to make ACers smile, laugh, or feel better. All you have to do to get your compliment up there is to mail her and she will put it up quickly. The best part is (and funnest), it's 100% anonymous, making it a total guessing game on who complimented you/someone else. It's always being updated as tons of people I imagine mail her with compliments. The page is open to anyone.

ACer: Wow, I would love to compliment some of my friends!

Jess: Sure, just mail me and I'll put them up!

ACer: Awesome, thanks! :)
