everyone who is writing on here seems to have no idea what they are talking about. not all hipsters do what they do and wear what they wear to simply be "different" or "better than everyone". Usually, the clothes they wear are what the "mainstream" in Europe is wearing because this country is so ridiculously behind. Indie music happens to be REALLY GOOD. Maybe, if everyone stopped listening to their godamn rascal flatts and whatever else the shit is they play on the radio, and actually thought for themselves, they would understand.

Dumbass #1:"Oh my god, look at that hipster over there, they think they are so cool because their clothes are DIFFERENT."
Dumbass #2:"I know their music is never played on the radio, so I bet it is just terrible."
Dumbass #1:"C'mon let's go listen to Rascall Flatts and Kelly Clarkson and buy all of our clothes from hollister.

Hipster (2011)

A Coffee drinking, novel reading, wayfarer wearing, oxford obsessing girl/guy who often will pretend to know everything about anything in pop culture spanning from the 1920's to now. Subsequently, they will pretend also not to like everything and anything in pop culture from the 1920's to now. May be seen wearing over sized or undersized, (but never the right sized)t shirt, which will undoubtedly be advertising some sort of movie that know one knows of and or band that know one knows of/likes. Most of them will say they 'get' where the wild things are and shun you for not thinking Spike Jonze is God. If you do not watch the Oscars they hate you. If you do watch the oscars they hate you. Pretty much: Every single one of the extras from Cleo from 5-7.

Typical conversation would go as follows:

Between two Hipsters:

Between a Hipster and a non-hipster:

"Loved Cries and Whispers."

"What's that?"

"Are...ARE YOU...Are....you SURIOUS! Woooowwww, wow, what? What? WHAT?" *Hyperventilates.

hippy

A person who belives that the environment is more important than anything else. They usually have lame hippie music festivals, which include lots of crappy hippy music, and large amounts of pot smoke. The most common hippy is the 'giggling stoner' which resides in attics/basements of their parent's houses, and of course, get stoned and giggle. They like to gather in drum circles in backyards, and if we're not careful, that drum circle could grow to be 4 miles in diameter and turn into a hippy music fest. They talk about saving the world, but the only thing they do is smoke pot and smell bad. They also like to throw blood on people to make a point about wearing leather.

Common things that a hippy says - "Oh man, this music is so crunchy!"

"Want some water laced with acid?"

1)Rebellious member of the Baby Boomer generation who believed that they were cahnging the world by smoking weed and taking LSD. Some of these original hippies are now utterly insane, some grew out of it but most still practice some hippy behaviour patterns. Examples include smoking weed at dinner parties, listening to folk/world music and in extreme case establishing a Holistic Vetinerary Centre. These people are generally harm less but can become tiresome
2) Very sad young people who copy the hippy ideals of thier parents. For this hardened minority hippydom is a whole way of life which is taken very seriously. It takes perverse determination to be a hippy today and consequently this group are to be completly avoided. That is unless you enjoy listening to someone arguing that you can be a jewish buddhist or that there is a government conspiracy to stop the use of homeopathic medecine because it works too well.
3)Hippy is used as a term of abuse by townies, chavs and scallys to denote anybody who is not a member of their underclass and does not seem to be a goth

1) he earns a six figure salery but hes still a bit of a hippy. I hear he grows weed in his loft and gives it to the children instead of pocket money
2) She is an unbearable hippy. whenever music she likes comes on the radio she claps, sways and mumbles to herself

Hippy Death Plague

A disease attributed to virus, that is generally caused by smoking weed or marijuanna when one is even slightly ill.

The smoking greatly exascerbates the illness and adds to it's duration. Any smoking before your system is purged, will only strengthen the Hippy Death Plague and worsen your symptoms.

When I was smoking at Purchase, trying to lessen a headache and a slight tickling in the back of my throat, I unwittingly opened the door to the full-blown Hippy Death Plague.

Dude, you shouldn't be smoking if you're sick. Don't you know about the Hippy Death Plague?
