An extremely abrupt and seemingly permanent metamorphosis in one's character from a personality of positive and charming qualities to negative and intolerable traits. root word FLIP can be interpreted as exposing a previously hidden underside to make it the dominating focal point, or can also be derived from the slang term FLIP, meaning crazy.

I used to think he was way cool, but he went flip-mode and became a total ass overnight for no apparent good reason.

flip night

Synonymous with Thirsty Thursday. Flip Night is a weekly event held by bars (usually on a Thursday) in which you have 50% opportunity to win a free drink by flipping a 2-sided coin. If the coin lands on the free side, then the drink is on the house. If it lands on the money side however, then you pay full price for it. This gathering is quite popular among college students, the main reason being the potential for an inexpensive drunk.

Jeremy: "Yo, bruh. Watchu gettin' into tonight? "
Marcus: "Mayne, it's Thursday and I ain't got shit to do. No classes tomorrow either."
Jeremy: "Word? Me too, man. I'm 'tryna get lit! Let's hit up flip night! "
Marcus: "Good plan."

Chinese flip cup

A variation of the game flip cup. Chinese flip cup is set up with sets of partners lined up across from each other along a table. Each partner has 2 cups, one with beer in it (flip cup amount) and one empty "catching" cup.

In chinese flip cup, the goal is not to flip your cup onto the table after drinking, but instead to flip your cup so that your partner across from you can catch your cup inside of their own. Once this is accomplished, your partner drinks from their beer cup, and then tries to flip it back across the table into your catching cup. The team of partners to flip and catch both directions first, wins.

My friends and I got so good at Chinese flip cup, that missing one flip guaranteed you would not win.
