The act of emotionally or intellectually distancing yourself from a shared experience to become a detached, clinical observer. Unlike gatekeeping (which keeps people out), gateleaving is when you "leave" the shared space of "we/us" to talk about "you/them" as if you are an alien or a judge.
Person A: "It’s interesting how you humans always get emotional about the weather."
Person B: "Bro, stop gateleaving us and just admit it's a nice day. You're acting like an alien."

Long story short, it leans more towards anarchy. In the Metal Community, many individuals whi listen to extreme metal will call those who listen to glam metal or hard rock gay or say it's pussy music and those who listen to them are not allowed to listen to extreme metal. Myself personally, I like to have the best of all worlds.
