Dropped D Tuned Down One Whole Step

An alternate tuning for the guitar, CGCFAD as opposed to EADGBE. More commonly (and mistakenly) referred to as Drop C.

Many bands utilize this particular tuning, including, but not limited to, As I Lay Dying, Killswitch Engage, System of a Down, Children of Bodom, Lostprophets, Breaking Benjamin, Bullet For My Valentine, Rammstein, Atreyu, Senses Fail, From First To Last, Metallica, Norma Jean, Thrice, A7X, and The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus.

Bill: "Dude, I love how Atreyu plays all of their songs in Drop C!"
Bob: "No man, they play in Dropped D Tuned Down One Whole Step."
Bill: "Dude, that's a long ass name. Lets just call it Drop C."
Bob: "OK."

2-step

Basically a variation on skanking. Which was a dance you did while listening to ska or punk rock music. Skanking is usually done in a circle pit. 2-stepping is done usually during a breakdown of some hella brutal metal music. You don't go around the pit or anything. You usually just stay in once place and 2-step that shit. Hardcore dancing is sometimes referred to as "hardcore 2-stepping" or "slam dancing".

"Fuck skanking, I wanna 2-step!", "Let's 2-step at the show tonight."
FYI: I have no problem with skanking. I'd rather skank to Reel Big Fish or Rancid than hardcore dance to some crazy hardcore music.

out of step

A form of sXe-ness. Could be considered a "higher degree".
This is when a person does not take part in drugs, alcohol or sex.
Often confused with sXe (no drugs, no alcohol).
Often a label picked up by those who desperatly want to belong or those who are under-age.
Feww are actually "edge" or "out of step" for life, sooner or later they realize it's a waste of time.
