bagger

Generally used by the hillwalking/rambling community in the UK, most of whom live in towns, who go off to the countryside at weekends just to set foot upon individual summits. One the individual hill is bagged, then they usually tick off a list of hills in a notebook. A bagger is one of those strange individuals who enjoys climbing hills just to tick off a list, and who was probably a trainspotter in the past life. They would gain more satisfaction from climbing a new hill in fog than they would be ascenting a previously climbed hill in good weather.

Only baggers would be out on such a miserable day as this.

beggar's lice

little seeds that stick to your clothes from walking in the woods. It's a humorous term and suggest the "victim" could not get real lice and could only get beggar's "lice".

'Shit bag' derives from the Latin 'shitius baggus', which in early Roman tragic theatre represented the potential to spoil a positive scene. The shit bag would be hurled at an actor at random.

The colour brown has since been associated with shit-bagging.

bigger-ma-jigger

A handheld optical device that is used to make objects appear bigger than they really are, or to enhance detail. They are the next step after bifocals. It is like a magnifying glass...oh wait, it IS a magnifying glass.

I couldn't read the microscopic instructions on the side of the anti-wrinkle cream, even with my glasses. I finally went and got the bigger-ma-jigger and VOILA!!!!, like magic, I could see that I wasn't winning the fight against old age.
