the Babel fish 

The Babel Fish (from Hitchiker's guide to the galaxy) is a small yellow fish you put in your ear to translate other languages. It swims through your ear canal into your brain, where instead of feeding off of your brain, it does something incredible. It actually feeds off of other's brain waves and converts them into coherent thoughts of your language. Contrary to popular belief, you cannot watch foreign language films or read foreign text, even with the babel fish, since it only converts from active brainwave that are in the same room as you, not a language that's been recorded or from the written word.

- Person 1: "Golly jee wilkers! I can understand all the languages with the Babel Fish! I should use this in Chinese class!"

The Backrooms

The backrooms are an endless set of office cubicle styled rooms set in a plane slightly agitated from normal reality.

The action of reaching the backrooms is described as "no-clipping" out of reality but there is no natural way to do this.
People who end up in the backrooms are subject to what can only be considered a glitch in reality and cannot be called at fault.
Ending up in the backrooms happens by completely random chance and can happen to anyone.

The backrooms are considered a place that you end up when reality has corrected and irregularity while someone was inside the zone of this irregularity but the zone does not contain area in a normal space and can be compared to how fifth dimensional objects are perceived from the fourth dimension.
Though the backrooms cannot be escaped by any normal means any living being can perform, there are several different fates that can occur while wandering the backrooms.

Nobody wants to go to The Backrooms.

tappin' the bomb 

1: (hypothetical) used to express the desire to go back in time and change a single moment in your life, hoping that the new timeline will turn out better.

2: (altruistic) sacrificing yourself to satisfy someone else's needs whether the results benefit you or not. Used to describe literal sacrifices of life or happiness or simple compromises for someone you care for but don't agree with.

Comes from a scene in the fifth season finale (and sixth season premiere) of LOST wherein the character of Juliet--knowing that her death is imminent--quite literally taps the core of an atomic bomb, hoping to create a time paradox and better the lives of her friends. She does this even though not only will she die but also an alternate version of her would not ever meet her soulmate.

The term itself was coined by LOST creator and producer Damon Lindelof in the audio commentary track of the premiere episode on the first disc of the sixth season DVD set of LOST.

Damon: I really need to tap the bomb and not have married you.

Husband: I tapped the bomb for you and let you watch that cooking show when LOST was on.
Wife: Oh don't be such a martyr.

American Man: Uh...what are you doing to the core of that atomic bomb?
Japanese Man: I'm tappin' the bomb to try to go back in time and stop you assbutts from killing my family.
