Pop Philosopher

When an individual has a late realisation on a mainstream idea which they believe is very insightful and decide to share this realisation with as many people as possible.
These individuals are often young and are aged between 12-27 but there are examples of even older pop-philosophers. They will make use of social media to preach their message in an effort to gain kudos from their fellow man and show how knowledgeable they are. What sets these pop-philosophers aside from regular learned men is that the ideas of a pop-philosopher are usually personal feelings, expressed on a very holistic level with no real world application, meaning and almost always very hypocritical. Quite frankly no one’s give shit about these ideas as they are complete waste of time. Pop-philosophers often have a very small group of friends as it is nearly impossible to tolerate such a person. They will have a large following from other individuals, often pop-philosophers in making themselves.
This term was originally coined by Mr 'Skye', currently residing in Singapore.
Ruby: I believe that to help our fellow man, we should raise individual awareness by launching multiple mass media campaigns to selected target groups and measure the data which we can use to extrapolate, blah diblah blah.
Skye: Oh for fucks sake Ruby, shut up you stupid Pop Philosopher and just run down to the copying room and get me 20 copies of this report on the homeless so I can get some real work done.

philosophy

The art of thinking.

Philosophy is the ability to conceptualize and articulate with other people, ideas on society, the world, how it functions, people's roles in it, existence itself and even things such as sports and athletics. It is a very narrow-minded concept that philosophy only has to do with deep thought, but it can also be rather light.

Ultimately it is usually viewed as reading others thoughts, such as Aristotle, and learning arguments so you can repeat them, but I believe one whom follows philosophy would be more concentrated on finding new ways to think about things, or would rather have intelligent conversations on subjects and enjoy just simply thinking about them.
You can spend your whole life reading philosophy and never be a philosopher, but you can spend five seconds and ask one question and go farther than many go in years.

armchair philosopher

Noun: to summarize, one who sits around and acts like they're an expert on something, yet they've had no involvement or factual research of it.

A typical armchair philosopher is somebody who is a complete know-it-all, usually a douchebag or self-declared intellectual. They always feel the need to seem intellectually superior to others, by continuously arguing about any subject they see in media, conversations, etc. and quoting themselves as experts on the subject. Most conversations with armchair philosophers contain their opinions restated as knowledge, false or misheard/rumored "facts", and other idiocy. Especially noted is how armchair philosophers typically do nothing to prove their intelligence: they sit around on the sidelines and make judgements where careful analysis is needed. Topics can range anywhere from video games on a message board to the origins of the universe. They are also extremely prevalent on the Internet, where they can act douchey under the guise of anonymity. This is a common form of trolling.

Armchair philosophers are named after the old stereotype of old rich men in robes smoking pipes, sitting by the fire, pretending to know a thing about politics.

It is also notable, especially concerning the under-descriptive and generic language and baseless accusations, plus the long-winded description of armchair pholisophers, that this entire definition is composed of armchair philosophy.
Jake is such a damn armchair philosopher, acting like he's known that Senate election candidate his whole life. He's probably never even voted!

Young Philosopher's Club (YPC)

Stands for Young Philosophers Club; a person who is so conceited and pompous and thinks that they are better than everyone else. People like this usually think their ideas are revolutionary and unique, when in actuality, "they put their pants on the same way we do in the morning - one leg at a time."
His graduation speech tried to be so Young Philosopher's Club (YPC), but then again, so is he. What a prick!
