A person who says that they love a certain style of music or clothing, (etc.) but really doesn't, and is trying to fit in.

Emily: Oh my God that girl is a poser! She doesn't like Green Day! I am the biggest Green Day fan!!!
Angela: Emily there are a ton of people who love Green Day much more than you. You are not their #1 fan.
Emily: Well I consider myself their #1 fan.
Angela: You only have one CD, there is a ton of Green Day CDs.

If you only have one CD of a band because you think it will make you cool, you are identified as a poser.

n. Someone who claims/pretends to be something they're not because, it's the "cool" thing to be. They act like they like certain things, and in reality they don't. They try to fit in and conform to the public's opinions. They don't have an original mind, and try to think like everyone else.

A person resembling a current fad enough to be often confused with other people assimulated into the fad. A prime example of any poser would someone that would easily fit under a lable. The emo labled poser are the current fad usually wearing black, black makeup, secound hand clothing when new clothing is attainable, dyed black hair, glasses when glasses are not needed and a loner attitude.

A Punk poser would be someone with radical hair, many peircings, rowdy attitude, studded accesories, doc marten boots, heavily customized jacket following certain punk guidlines and the udderance of the sound/word/cry "oi!"
A Goth poser would be some one who wears entire black, heavy makeup, lots of peircings, anti social attitude, radical daily life and a fetish for metal and bondage.
A Gangster poser aka wigger/wankster/wanker/etc.. would be some one who wears increddibly baggy clothing, lots of bling, bandanas may be worn out of the back pocket, on the head or under an unalterd baseball cap with the tags left on, slang is also heavily used in this poser culture.
