Bobo is a portmanteau of the words bourgeois and bohemian.
The term is used in David Brooks book 'Bobos in Paradise' to describe the 1990s descendants of the yuppies. Brooks's thesis is that this "new upper class" represents a marriage between the liberal idealism of the 1960s and the self-interest of the 1980s.
Bobos, often of the 9-to-5 middle/upper class, claim highly tolerant views of others, purchase expensive and exotic items, and believe American society to be meritocratic.
Bobos hate 'conspicuous consumption' but will splurge on the "necessities" of life. Bobos consider money as a means rather than an end in itself.
Bobo can be used in place of the word yuppie, but it has a fresher and less negative of a connotation.

Aminah: Do you want to go to that french-japanese fushion place for dinner?
Sasha: Eh...I'm craving something local.
Sasha: ...maybe that raw food place you dig in the village?
Amy: Fantastic.. that way we can pick up some beer from Trader Joe's on the way back to the crib!
(two bobos deciding on evening plans)

Short for "bourgeois bohemian" in fact another form of poser... pretending "acting" to be a dirtbag or grunge type, often in ski towns or outdoors activities areas - climbing, wind-surfing, kayaking, etc ... being the most hip, non-capitalist, vegan, supporter of causes. Often found in the hippest places in Latin America, Palestine, Africa, acting like the locals. When they are out of money and when the going gets rough they do not sell their truck or pawn their skis but go to the bank, discretely find their credit card or have their parents bail them out, supply an airline ticket or hospital bill. A covert "trustafarian"
She's not a dirtbag snowborder... she's a DuPont, a bobo...
You wait tables all summer; bobo there goes home to Cape Cod or Palo Alto.

French: Short for bourgeois bohème. Describes Parisians who are both upscale and artistic. Similar to the original meaning of the American "hipster," but generally laced with a uniquely French"Je ne sais quois".

Canvas "KEDS" or "ZIPS" style shoes. Usually in white, but you'd be lucky to find them at those bin stores in yellow, pink, red or blue.

A person who participates in elite equestrian competitions who clearly does not have the knowledge, horsepower, and or skill to do so. Their horses will appear to be unkept and will be of low quality. They also will tend to lean towards equipment of the florescent and plastic persuasion (which is generally frowned upon in this conservative natured sport). They also will enter classes which are above and beyond their skill level which inevitably leads to a disastrous performance. A Bobo is generally oblivious to the aforementioned and is usually very high on themselves and their horses. Thus, they tend to cause a disturbance in the warm up areas due to their inflated egos. Also known as a "Rubber Booter" due to their infatuation with plastic equipment.
"Dude, did you see that Bobo with the hot pink saddle pad run in front of my warm up fence?!"
"Quick, the Bobo from this morning entered the 1.40, disaster will ensue!"
