When the main reason why two people are friends is a hate towards somebody or something.

A prime example is the muppets Statler and Waldorf. The cornerstone of their friendship is the ridicule of performers on stage.

Girl1: Why are those guys hanging out, it's not like they have anything in common?

Girl2: They're hate buddies, they all loathe Justin Bieber.
