Duder #1: Yo dude, have you heard of <insert band here>? They've been around since like 1995.
Duder #2: Nah, they sound awesome, I now have a new favorite garage sale band.

lafayette marching band

a horny group of kids that walk around and CONSTANTLY talk about band. Every section is on a social hierarchy. They work almost every day, which is cool bc of their dedication and I can hear them from my house. but man oh man, they can talk and even when they don't have band, THEY HAVE BAND. They've won a lot of state championships and they're a little cocky but hey, they're good.

Person 1: Have you heard of the Lafayette High School Marching Band in Lexington, KY

Person 2: Oh yeah, lafayette marching band

Person 1: they're like the "sexually active band geeks" on Mean Girls.

tribute band

A couple of musicians looking to make some extra money by taking songs from an already famous band. Usually the fore-mentioned band no longer performs and therefore it is a tribute. Although some of the most well liked tribute bands, do in fact do tribute to a band that is still in existence and performing.

"We should form a tribute band to a group that is still performing and show up at the same venues as them just a few days before."
"Oh, lets tribute Green Day!"
