From the rock climbing community, beta is jargon for a key move, action, or piece of information that is needed to accomplish a problem. Beta can range from a small hint or detailed step-by-step instructions. When used in climbing, it could include information about the best route or how to handle specific hands or footholds. Outside of climbing, "good beta" can be used to describe any tips, hints, or information that aids any situation or action.

Julia: "Hey, are you still coming over at 7:00?"
Lisa: "Yes, I am leaving in a few minutes."
Julia: "Make sure you take Swannanoa River Road instead of I-240. There is construction on 240 and you'll be stuck in traffic."
Lisa: "Good Beta! See you soon."
