Being banksy or doing something banksy means comitting an "outrageous" act that you think is highly rebellious and counterculture but is in fact banal, sanitized and/or monetized. Quite often if you see the word "edgy" used unironically, it will be referring to a banksy act.
Comes from the street artist Banksy, whose entire portfolio can be conveniently described with this adjective.
