idiot's advocate 

Someone who actively takes the side of idiocy in a conversation for the sake of having the subject explained, in easier terms, for someone who may not know as much about it. The advocate would typically be up-to-speed with the subject of interest, but ask such questions for someone who might be too embarrassed to do so. See devil's advocate.

Frank, Bob, Carl and I were having a conversation about politics, but Carl doesn't really pay attention to it, so I decided to play the idiot's advocate to catch him up

idiot filter

The first level of technical support at just about any company. If you have a real problem with a product, you have to prove you're not an idiot just so you can talk to the next level of support where someone may actually be able to address the problem.

Caller: I bought a RAM module that doesn't seem to work.
Tech Sup: Did you try plugging it in the computer first?
Caller: Are you seriously asking me that? Yes. I plugged it into each slot separately, trying various memory configurations and even tried it in a second PC I have. The memory check always fails.
Tech Sup: Did you try unplugging your computer?
Caller: Dude, can I get past the idiot filter? If two different computers in multiple slots say the RAM is bad, then it's bad.

Idiot Hunting 

Searching online for forum posts, blogs, etc by people holding views or believing things that you regard as being exceptionally stupid, obnoxious or generally unpleasant. Usually done just for a laugh when extremely bored or procrastinating.

Couldn't get started on my essay so ended up on Google idiot hunting. Found so much racist, homophobic, hyper religious, republican and daily-mail esqe bs that I lost all faith in humanity.

A method or strategy of identifying easily manipulated or gullible people.

The Standing Rock Sioux DAPA solidarity check in served only as an idiot detector. As all 3 methods which it described would filter fake check ins by default.

idiot kid 

When you call someone an "idiot"(which is an adjective) but then also add in the "kid”(which seems like an adjective depending on how you describe it but it's really not). If you think about it it's not required

Soccer Player *scores in the goal 3 times*
Soccer Player:" You're really bad at being goalie."
Goalie:"At least I'm you're worse"
Soccer Player:"what I just scored on you idiot kid"

Idiot Gap 

Someone that pulls up to a stoplight and leaves an obscene amount of space between themselves and the next car. Resulting in frusturation for all.

Dumbass up there in his red ford expedition has left an idiot gap large enough to park a semi. Now nobody will be able to make it through the light when it turns green.
