Finnigan's wake

A tradition in Irish funerals, it's the name given to the enormous partying and alcohol consumption that takes place after an Irish funeral, as the Irish believe that the dead would not want to look down on their family to see them mourning and crying, but rather partying and remembering the good times of those passed.

After the funeral for my grandma, we all partied Finnigan's wake style to remember the good times.

Small school down in Winston-Salem, North Carolina...Top 10 for D-1 sports such as basketball, golf, field hockey and soccer. Owns the nickname "Work Forest" and has the 'Study Hard, Party Harder' reputation. Probably fits in the top 25 schools in the nation in terms of selectivity and academic caliber. Similiar in academics and style to such southern schools as Duke (my school),UNC-Chapel Hill,UVA, Vanderbilt, Georgetown, and Emory. Had I not gotten into Duke, Wake was my 2nd choice school out of all of these. Besides Duke and Stanford and a few other schools, Wake has one of the prettiest and most beautiful campuses in the nation.

Italian Breakfast Wakeup

A method of waking someone up in an undesirable fashion. One person pours olive oil and balsamic vinegar on a sleeping person's face while another person grates the smelliest cheese possible over the sleeping person's head. Another person shakes a massive container of grated parmesean cheese over the sleeping person's head. Several enraged Italians quarrel in loud Italian right next to you, and an old Italian man screams in your ears, "Mama Mia" repeatedly. Finally, a pizza maker smacks you in the face continually with hot pizzas from his wood fire oven. It is important to note all of these actions are signs of respect, and only those with the requisite prestige and reputation can aspire to receive this lofty wakeup. This practice is still active in parts of Rome, Tuscany, and Cinque Terre.

I don't want Johnny to sleep over. He always gives someone one of those Italian Breakfast Wakeups, and they get terribly messy. He claims it's part of his heritage, and it's a great honor to bestow upon someone, but I think it's messy and awful.
