Potticle

A condition in which a (person) is enveloped with a strong sense of arrogance which then the person will often go out of their way to show off their abilities. Often ending with disappointing results and denial of failure when obvious.

Jacob: Bro, this is so strange, I'm usually 10x better than this, I can show you.
Jefferson: What are you? Potticle? you were a complete and utter disappoint/failure and outright garbage

wax poetic

(verb)
1. to make a phrase or text longer by making it more poetic (hence the name) and verbose.
2. to mention something in a roundabout way, so the real word doesn't have to be said (this could happen for a variety of reasons e.g. socially unacceptable language).

(Example 1.) "I'm not a fan of this kinda food." if you wax poetic, it becomes "I do dislike this taste of cuisine, indeed."

(Example 2.) "Wanna fuck?" becomes "Would you like to come over to my place and hang?"

Porticullis

A term used in reference to a male who, as a way of showing his affection to a female, protects her very zealously from the advances, real or imagined, of other males, despite the fact that she has no interest in him or even a boyfriend.

This leads to the following other slang terms:
The castle--the girl in question
The king--the girl's boyfriend (as in "the king is in the castle"
To storm the castle--to hit on the girl, not seriously but just to antagonize the porticullis
Also: boiling oil, trebuchet, battering ram, protracted seige, etc. can be used allegorically to describe specific situations that arise in this setup.

When Jamie but his arm across Yling's shoulder, just as a friend, Clint freaked out and yelled at him (because Clint wants him some Yling) even though Yling's boyfriend Adam didn't care.
In this instance (and many others) Clint was being a porticullis.

When you finish a book that's really good and you need a few days to get over it.

I just finished this novel. Made me cry. I'm taking a poetic pause to try and take it all in.
