Get the greebo mug.A small town in Victoria known for an Australian Rules Football Club whose moniker arose from a black cat that apparently brought the team some luck in the 1920's.
The town is also famous for its 'bogans', though these populate the towns north - an area closest to the Bogan Capital of Melbourne. The central suburbs of Geelong are highly affluent and characterised by families who send their children to over-priced schools such as Geelong Grammar and Geelong College. Everyone one else in Geelong is Catholic; their children attending single-sex schools such as St Joseph's and St Mary's.
The town is considered a 'great place to bring up children'. This is another way of saying that parents in the town feel they don't have to worry too much about their children in such a 'safe town'. This wonderful myth and parental apathy extends into the child's adolescence, where the 'youth' of Geelong are free to run wild and experiment heavily. Interesting sub-cultures are often created in the process, before the late-adolescent Geelong person is old enough to leave the town (usually as soon as possible) for a real city.
Those who escape the town usually have a wonderful sense of humour, become incredibly successful, and feel a continuing sense of empathy toward black cats and the Geelong Football Club. They also become over-protective parents.

Get the greebo mug.Something thats better than a chav, for many reasons. More free spirited than chavs, they mostly listen to music that requires talent. The music varies from (the less talented) pop punk such as Green Day to (much more talent required) Heavy Metal bands such as Metallica and Iron Maiden. They tend to wear baggy clothes and skate, and avoid being illiterate.

Get the greebo mug.Word used to class people with an alternative taste in music (HIM, Muse, Franz Ferdinand, Zeromancer and the like) and an alternative taste in casual/smart attire. (Duffs, Quiksilver, O'Neill, Vans, Etnies erc) It is commmonly used as an insult by trendies, chavs, scallies and hard-knocks, from which most 'greebos' can give suitably scathing comebacks.
'Greebos' very often wear loose fitting trousers (preferably jeans) or branded 3/4 lengths of the brands named above and can almost always been seen in a t-shirt/shirt with an amusing quote on the front, or a band name. Female 'greebos' can often be seen wearing stripy socks, fishnet gloves, clothes with rainbow patterns and other striped items of casual wear. Many 'greebos' also like to skateboard and enjoy taking part in many other extreme sports.
