A person who has a sniper equiped is no camper because it is the purpose of a sniper rifle to kill someone at a safe , unseen range and not to make close quarter kills!

In 1st person shooters online, the term given to a player who stays in one spot, and continualy shoots anything that comes into site. Typically uses a sniper rifle or the like. Some campers try to defend themselves, but most of the online gaming comminity are of the opinion that they are boring, and just make the game that much duller. A good solution to the camper problem is to ban sniper rifles (were possible) or to play maps where camping will only get you kille such as "harbor" on Call of Duty. It is also just as good to have a map where there are some good areas to camp, but if you spawn in the wrong place, you're fucked. A good example of this would be "rocket" in Call of Duty. It is esspecially fun to melee campers who don't see you.

A person most often playing a FPS game who will sit in a place where an enemy will not see them, and most likely shoot the enemy from behind or when they cannot see them. People who camp are most often players who do not have the skills to move around carefully and fairly fight the enemy because they lack the skills to do so. Camping a keypoint for a certain amount of time is a good tactic. Camping any position for a whole round is saught as cowardly and skilless.

Person in an online FPS who actually puts some thought into the game. The people who camp are generally regarded as low-life noobs who have no skill by the very people they kill (usually 10th or 15th Prestige faggots who think they're invincible).
The only reason campers have a bad name is because of the people who constantly sit in the enmy spawn (aka spawn camping) or next to a weapon/vehicle spawn point to whore dozens of kills with said weapons.
If you've ever played Demolition in CoD, you will often find the defending team camping it up and living the good life while the people who rush start crying and whining about their now negative KDR for the match.
Before you bitch about it being lame, try it out and see how many kills you get.

Look up the word douchebag and you might find out what a camper is. The is a person that plays online games that have no skills. Capture the flag means capture the flag not have four out of six team mates staging by their flag for some easy kill. It's not always annoying when my mission is to go and kill the campers. I guess it's legal so go ahead noobs.
