skatebaord terminology - to turn, more specifically, in the direction where after 90 degrees of spinning you are facing backwards, hence, backside.

also refers to the direction you are facing when approaching an obstacle. for example, if you roll up to a curb and it's behind you, any grind that you do on the curb without 180ing into it will be backside (including noseslides and boardslides...)

The backside is what locals call the part of mount desert island that tourists usually don’t visit. The working class side known for being full of commercial fisherman, drugs, harbor hogs, and where everyone wears the same things from the same stores especially females.
