sven out

A process by which an individual, in a social situation involving two or more people, falls asleep prematurely--that is, before anyone else is close to falling asleep. Perceived by others in the situation as a grievous wound to the character and mood of the evening; a signal that it's over, time to go home. The fun is done.

A sven-out (v. sven out, n. sven-out) is a three step process.

First, the individual smokes (1) marijuana, and then proceeds to find (2) a snack, (3) a blanket, and then fall unconscious. Sven-like symptoms nearly always include denial.

Make sure you don't sven out tonight! We wanted to go to the autopsy demonstration.
