Noun: A woman who no one really knows at a party, but still sketches/sluts around like she knows everyone. Not necessarily a terrible or nuthugger, a random can be appealing to a drunk guy, and hooking up with her can result in props from friends.

Dude, Nate hooked up with a random last night!!

Calling someone a random is funny because its using an adjective as a noun.

(The common descriptive definition) This word is sadly overused, but in the correct situation as in the example below, this is the only suitable word and it accurately and sometimes hilariously describes the situation. . . . Perhaps saying something is a non sequitur can be used in place of random in some instances.

**Anyone who would prefer only to hear and use this word only in the context particle physics needs to 1. get a life, 2. get over it, and 3. realize that this is "urban dictionary" and that the prescriptive definition should be looked for in a dictionary not here.
