There is no war in Ba Sing Se

There is no war apparent, but in actuality there is a cruel war going on which the outsiders do not know about, bystanders do not talk about, and insiders fight using all means necessary while still trying their best to hide it from the public.

The saying originates
"Russia did not invade Ukraine, and there is no war in Ba Sing Se."

"Censorship does not go against free speech. There is no war in Ba Sing Se."

"There is no inflation above 2% in USA in 2022, just like how there is no war in Ba Sing Se."

Shit on a Shingle

My dad was in the army for 24 years and my mom use to make this for him. I love the stuff. The navy uses chipped beef but I prefer the hamburger version.
Here is an official U.S. Army recipe for SOS:
CREAMED BEEF ON TOAST (SOS)
1/2 lb. ground beef
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
4 tbsp. sifted flour
1 cup evaporated milk
1 cup water
2 tbsp. butter
Brown ground beef in its own fat. Remove excess fat and save for making roux. Season with salt and pepper. To make roux, place 2 tbsp. reserved fat in double broiler or heavy pan. Slowly add sifted flour, stirring constantly over low heat until thoroughly blended. Cook for five minutes. Do not brown. Combine milk and water. Add butter and scald (not burn) in double broiler or heavy pan. Add roux to scalded milk, stirring constantly until thoroughly blended. Add meat mixture and cook about 10 minutes, or until desired consistency. Serve on toast.

Sing It Loud

Pretty much the best band ever...
consisting of:

Pat Brown: Singer/Guitar
Kieren Smith: Guitar/ Back Up Singer
Benjamin Peterson: Keyboard
Nate Flynn: Bass
Chris Lee (Sick Boy): Drums

The band is originally from Minnesota and has an amazing pop rock sound, accompanied by "boisterous" live shows.

If you do not like them, you may just suck.

saying "hi" to my monster

Annie: "What are you doing?"
Steve: Saying "hi" to my monster. Jerking off, if you
will, since you won't help me
on that subject.

hanging out my shingle

When a professional (especially a lawyer), rather than looking for a job, just goes and finds clients. This takes guts and a willingness to work constantly for precious little money in exchange for autonomy.
Law student 1: Hey, you made top 10%. I bet you could get that $160,000 opening at Rob, Ewe, and Howe!

Law student 2: Fuck those guys. I don't want to kiss ass for the next 20 years. I'm hanging out my shingle.
