obie light

A light which generates a subtle twinkle or glint in the eyes. In filmmaking cinematographers often use an "obie" light just near the lens, aimed at an actress in a close up. It was a nickname created by use of such lighting for actress Merle Oberon who was known for her attractively seductive eyes.
Director of Photography: "Let's give Angie a little sumpin in the eyes. Put that 'obie light' right here next to the camera!"

Origin: Oberlin College.

Something marked by excessive social consciousness (or by the attempt to demonstrate it).
"Don't cornflakes repress women?"
"That is such a stupid obie-dobie thing to say."

obie trice

Mediocre rapper from Detroit on Eminem's Shady Records.
"Obie Trice doesn't realize that stating 'Real Name, No Gimmicks' is a gimmick within itself."

Obie Trice

Obie Trice is at best a mediocre rapper from Detroit, that in his own mind has reached stardom by playing back up singer to Eminem. In reality he is a nobody and relies on telling people he's in a group with Eminem in order to gain entry to shitty bars/clubs for free.
Club Employee: Covers ten
Obie Trice: I'm Obie Trice
Club Employee: Yea, I'm Mike; covers still ten
Obie Trice: I'm in a group with Eminem... Eminem Man!
