phantom cellphone syndrome

Occasionally feeling as if you can hear your cellphone ringtone or feel it vibrating in your pocket when you don't have it on you or it's not within earshot or no one has called or texted you.

I felt my cell vibrating in my pocket, but when I reached in there to grab it, it wasn't even on my. Just phantom cellphone syndrome, I guess.

A dangerous, yet increasingly common condition in which a person constantly hears (or feels) their cellphone going off. But, alas, it is just their deluded imagination at work.

Researchers have concluded that the most reliable cure for cellphonia is to completely cut-off all contact with cellular devices. At present time, rehabilitation centers are being constructed to help patients move quickly and effectively through their treatment.

Jesse: So are we hitting the skate park now or what?

Brandon: Yeah sure...oh wait a sec... my cell is ringing *(pulls out phone) Oh wait, never mind, I mistakenly thought it was....

Jesse: Dude! That's like the eighth time in the last fifteen minutes you've made that mistake! I think you've got yourself a serious case of Cellphonia!

Brandon: Shizeh!

a concatenated, shortened version of "Cellular Phone", named for its ingenious method of organizing groups of private frequencies into discrete areas. When a user's phone left one "cell", the user entered another, thus jumping from one frequency to the other without losing the call.

That device which generally all people posess, it cannot be out of arm's length because of society's fear of losing contact. Teenagers "text" with it, and if they are not consistantly in contact with multiple friends and/or acquiantances, they implode. The average age a teen/child recieves this vital lifeline has been lowering since the dawn of the 2000's. While it used to be a device shockingly few people posessed, you now see many a six year old "texting," as they should be in order to socialize properly. A device people tend to throw against walls when frustrated.

"Mom, everyone else has a cellphone, and I NEED one to text!!!"
