paddy's motorbike

a trench rammer or "Wacker" - basically a petrol engine driving a flat stomper, used for compacting earth back into a trench or flattening local repairs in tarmac.

So called because of its prolific use by apparently irish road labourers.
this hole's ready for filling, we'd better go and borrow Paddy's motorbike.

Paddy's bike

So called because to charge the cylinder you had to stand in the cut-outs in the body and jump up and down before tripping the magneto and causing the huge cylinder to fire. The Irish construction workers were so adept at this, and with the rammer being so cumbersome, they could 'ride' the rammer across the site to the trench by remaining stood in the side cut-outs! As a young plant mechanic, I was amazed to actually see this skill in action - Truly, paddy's bike!

Paddy's Stag

A party celebrating the last night of freedom of a man before he gets married, but where another man steals the limelight/tries to convince everyone its his own party. The term is commonly used in the west of Ireland.
1) Wow! I'd say Barry was well annoyed at that Paddy Stag last weekend in Cork.

2) Jaysus, the DJ announced another blokes name instead of Baz! It must be Paddy's Stag!

Paddy's Shadow

When the Irish pub closes and you're drunk, broke and following an Irish backpacker back to the hostel in the hope of free booze and getting laid with them, or their fellow travellers
They kicked us out of the Irish pub so I thought I'd try my luck and follow in Paddy's shadow

Paddy’s Market

Personally I’ve only heard my older family members (all Scouse) say this. Not sure on where this variant of the saying originated from but possibly North West England.

It means an area that’s cluttered, or “looks like a bombshell has hit it”.
My ma ripping the house apart on a Saturday afternoon for no reason: IT’S LIKE FUCKIN PADDY’S MARKET IN THIS ROOM!
The one pair of trakky pants sitting on my chair that she’s flipping over:

A big fuck off/great gurt fucking angle grinder used for cutting big bits of metal or a Norfolk lasses pubes

Typically ran on petrol they sound like two stroke motorbikes and are used by gyppos who need to compensate for their lack of testicles (Paddy’s Motorbike because they’re Irish you see)
