Giz us a hoon is a colloquial phrase which roughly means "May I please have some". It is believed to have
originated in Aotearoa/New Zealand and was popularised after photos of a 2004 protest in Auckland against
homophobic,
evangelical Christians showed one protester holding a sign reading "Giz a hoon on your Harley bro". The sign was in reference to the motorcycle of the leader of the homophobic Christians, Brian Tamaki.
