Cartered

v. 'to be cartered' or 'to carter'

If you were travelling in a group but were at the back, quite a way behind the rest, and you were then attacked or abducted, you would be said to have been 'cartered'.

From the teacher, 'Mrs Carter,' who is rumoured to have demonstrated this on students travelling from the games field too slowly.

Girl 1: Where's Lucy?
Girl 2: I don't know, she was behind us...
Girl 1: Oh my god, what if she's been cartered!

Girl 1: What happened to you last night? You just disappeared!
Girl 2: It was awful, I got cartered by David Tenninch and the QEGS aliens!

Cartered (Car-ter-d)
A north of the 49th parallel term originating within the borders of Canada. First thrust into public consciousness during the gold rush days in the Yukon, regarded as meaning incredible shortfalls and extreme unluckiness when success has been all but guaranteed . A term identifying an unlucky loser whose game playing is unmatched and often avoided by other players due to vortex of losing that follows and routinely due to association. Getting Cartered was documented in a 1914 article that may never have been written, in which a high profile dentist had placed a $100 bet on a horse race at their local track. This tactician of molars chose the horse “ShotsonGoal” for a win that paid a return of $10k. The horse won the race by 4 lengths, with the sharp dressed dentist getting “Cartered” by the horse winning.. but…the jockey was knocked off the horse at the start of the race, thus disqualifying the horse and making his ticket a loser!

When your original plan is hijacked by a pair of enablers, who turns the short time together into a well-stocked liver testing experiment.
They don't just drop in or join you, they strategically engineer a night that you won't remember. They give you the "liquid courage" you need to keep going and make bad decisions.

We were planning on a nice little brunch, but we got Carvered and woke up the next morning face down on the floor next to an empty box of frozen White Castle burgers and a thousand dollar bar receipt from the St. Regis.

I have never spent so much to hear music as I did on touch-tunes the night we got Carvered.
