ghazqiin

Derogatory word in Chechen for the Russian language. Apparently from the Chechen pronunciation of "Cossack" and the Chechen rebels' image of all Russians being Cossacks.
(Chechen guerrilla commando to Russian prisoner): Vy russkii?
(Russian prisoner, speaking partly in Chechen and partly in Russian): So ghazqiin wu, ty zhopochnik!

shirtwave

A multiband radio that's small enough to be carried in a shirt pocket.
This shirtwave is unbelievable! I just picked up RTVT from Tunisia with the whip antenna HALFWAY up!

intergnat

An annoying person that hovers over you and watches what you're downloading on the Internet, usually at an Internet cafe or at a library. Does not necessarily have to be a person in authority---could be a nosy kid, impatient person that's next on line to use the computer, etc.
I wish I had my own PC at home. I always get an intergnat or two when I use the 'puters at the library!

mockers

Scissors. From Serbian "makazice" (mah-kah-ZEE-tseh) = scissors.
Today I had to go to the post office to mail a package but I didn't have the mockers to cut the sealing tape.

spocktacle

A science fiction convention. Does not necessarily have to have Star Trek as its main theme.
John, I'm going to the Slanted Fedora spocktacle in Chicago, so you won't be able to call me on the phone for a few days. Send me an email instead.
