not the band
phrase you say to music lovers after you say a certain word that may be a band name. A friend of mine always said this to me after he said certain words because he knows I love music. Other variations of this phrase include "Not the singer", "Not the song", "Not the rapper", "Not the group", and "Not the music style". When you say a word that may be a singer's last name, you'd say this:
Mark: Go straight.
Karen: Not George Strait!
Amy: Watch out for that branch!
Karen: Not Michelle Branch!

sex, drugs, and rock n roll
a cliche that hard rockers of the 1960s,1970s, 1980s, and to some extent, the 1990s and today, follow, saying that these are all rock and roll songs are supposed to be about: banging groupies, taking lots of drugs, mistreating women, and rock and roll music, when we know that there's more to sing about than that stuff
2) the reason why grunge kicked out hair metal
3) the reason why everyone hates emo
2) the reason why grunge kicked out hair metal
3) the reason why everyone hates emo
1)The main reason people like the Buckcherry song "Crazy Bitch" is that it follows the tired old "sex, drugs, and rock n roll" trend that has been in effect since the 1960s. Besides, who needs to hear them call someone a bitch? The National Organization for Women should get this song off the radio! The only difference between the rock songs of the 1960s and Buckcherry's song is that Buckcherry's song has cussing.
2) All hair metal was doing was following the unneeded "sex, drugs, and rock n roll" trend, and Nirvana knew that there was more to rock than that, so they kicked the hair metal musicians' sorry butts to the curb. Unfortunately, this trend is making a comeback, and it really needs to die!
3) Sex, drugs, and rock n roll is a stupid trend, and emo is actually meaningful than all the songs that follow this trend. Emo cares about the music; the artists that follow this trend only care about excesses, and that's what emo haters expect emo artists to sing about, when in reality, emo is far deeper than this moronic hard rock. Anyone can do this trend; few people can do emo.

hardcore
a dedicated fan of a band or artist who owns everything the artist has put out, and talks about said artist for hours at a time and knows everything there is to know about the artist, and attends concerts by the artist when they can when the artist comes to their hometown or closer to it
I am a hardcore Eve 6 fan. I have all three of their albums, two t-shirts, and the soundtrack to Out Cold, which they appear on.

adults these days
1)Adult: Kids these days don't know how hard we had it growing up. We had to walk ten miles to school and back in the snow!
Kid: Adults these days just whine about their pasts and claim we're all spoiled. Our parents actually care about frostbite.
2) Adult: Kids these days just listen to rap, pop, and emo crap. They don't know how great Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin were!
Kid: Adults these days can't accept the fact that there's more to music than the classics. If they really hate mainstream music so much, they should listen to indie rock!

carry in, carry out
Carry in, carry out is a great rule, but why do state parks provide trash cans after they post signs saying this? What gives?
