Red Ass

Someone who is constantly complaining or picking a fight over perceived injustices.

I first saw this usage in a Sports Illustrated article about the baseball manager Lou Pinella. In the article Pinella, who is notoriously bad about arguing with umpires, referred to himself as a red ass. I liked the term so well, and it applied to some in my family, it was entered in to the family lexicon.

My father yelled at the waiter for bringing the wrong order. He is a real red ass.

Expressing frustration at the realization that things have turned out badly or not as planned or that one has just said or done something foolish. Also implying that another person has said or done something foolish.

Person 1: Hey, man. I had sex with your girlfriend last night.
Person 2: D'OH!
