ass-kisser 

A person who flatters or compliments somebody in order to gain their trust or approval; a goal-oriented individual who wants to ascend a hierarchical system (in a corporation or otherwise), and accomplishes this by getting on good terms with people.

'Ass' is a common and somewhat rude term for a person's rear end. Someone who 'kisses ass' is willing to degrade himself in order to please others and get ahead.
1) That ass-kisser, Peter, is always telling the boss how great he is.

2) Don't be such an ass-kisser; the boss doesn't even know you are alive anyway.

An unpleasant or backwards place; an ugly and undesirable city or area.

Sometimes an 'armpit' (where the arm meets the body) has a strong and offensive odor.

Web sites that steer users to an E-commerce site in return for a commission; in more general terms, an associate or subordinate member of an organization.

The Latin word "Filius" means "son".
Amazon has thousands of affiliates that help them sell books.

This is movie industry slang, originally found in Variety, the long-time trade magazine of the film business in Hollywood.

artsy fartsy

Trying too hard to be artistic; an overly strong interest in appearing to be aesthetically aware.

From a lyrical marriage of the words "art" (creative or imaginative activity such as painting or poetry) and "fart" (expelling gas). The implication is that the art (or person) in question is no more than a glorified fart.
I don't like his paintings - they're a little bit too artsy fartsy.
