The business/museum/ store/restaurant was in business for 25 years or more and was a success, but then in about 2020, someone told them they needed to change (shut down) and gave them of list of reasons why, and because they listened to bullshit (and because they were idiots) instead of fighting change, they ended up closing forever. It was fighting change that kept them open, not being up to date.
Change isn't something you need if you're successful at something, don't allow anybody to convince you otherwise, since their motives are questionable if they think change is needed at a time like that.

Thanksgiving

You would think Thanksgiving was kill anything that looks like a descendant of an Anglo-Saxon Puritan day for the Indians, but they don't try to get revenge for the past, even when some groups/tribes of Indians became extinct because of these folks.
The Indians know if they said you're welcome on Thanksgiving, they would lose their entire family and their land for it.

Cancel everything

You would think the Indians would have Thanksgiving shut down for being a racist holiday, yet they show up at the parade held on land that was taken from them and they don't have the city/county shut the parade down because it traumatizes them to watch it. The country has a fucked up history, but once you start to allow any attempt to shed light on history by talking about all sides of it, (that includes the Confederate side, and the side of the original slaveowners, the founding fathers like George Washington and James Madison) you end up trying to keep people in the dark about it by having everything cancelled that doesn't agree with what you think history should have been like, in a past where everything and everyone was wonderful and decent, and history was never like that because people are human and not inherently good (or bad). People are people, they always have been fucked up.
People nowadays think that somebody owes it to them to cancel everything they don't like, even if somebody else might learn something from it. It's one thing if you want to cover your own kids eyes and ears everywhere they go, it's another thing to tell everybody ese they have to do the same things the same way you do.
Where people come from, and not where they are now. History isn't a fairy tale, it's ugly, not just the 1800s, but if you go back further than that, it was ugly before that. Trying to erase history or tell people they can't educate people about it anymore over sensitivity to it, or because it traumatizes people is silliness, and will not change the present.
You don't burn every copy of a book because it traumatizes you to read it, or you disagree with what's on the pages so that nobody else can read it either. You simply put the book down, read another one that doesn't offend you so much, and question everything you read, even if it's about the Civil War and slavery. What do you really have experience with concerning slavery? That was the 19th century, this is now 2021, nobody was alive back then to give a personal experience narrative of an event. It's a lot like an Italian guy saying he is still mad about his relative from ancient Rome being killed as a gladiator even though he didn't even meet the guy and never walked in his shoes. These are a couple thousand year old shoes he would be trying on. You would think the Indians would be the most outraged group in America over anything you can think on social media, yet you don't hear much from them, there's hardly enough of them left to have the kind of voice black people and every group that lives on their land (including white people) has nowadays. Yet every other group thinks their story matters that much more than the next (that includes black people) to the point that history can't even be talked about without somebody getting a sore ass over it.
Something you never have to do for anyone.
People that were actually from the area and went there as kids were grateful that the museum didn't abandon what it was to change into what it could be, something new.

Dollar signs

What people really use math for.
Most people don't use equations on a daily basis, since they don't tend to prove as much to as many people as having a lot of money does. If it's not a means to an end, most people aren't going to do it even for show, since they don't see dollar signs that go with it.
The guy that seems to be where you are.
The other guy figured out he was good at math, but he had never seen Billy work on his equations, that wasn't easy to do and no kid does equations for fun or because they want to. So the other kid went to the gym to practice and take his mind off math, and sure enough, there was Billy at the gym practicing too. The other guy thought he was more devoted than Billy to everything, and therefore better at everything, but Billy kept struggling with him to let him know he was just as good at math or physical activities, not better, but just as good.
