Incessant talking that seems to go and on without any end.
We would have gotten some work done if you guys wouldn't have spent the last two hours yaking.

Get the yaking mug.
A really annoying type of bark that some dogs have where they have a sound simular to the 'hee' part of a donkey's bray as part of their bark.
That barking was maddening enough! The bray barking is driving me crazy!

Some aspect of a deal you make with another person (could be anything from a job offer to a relationship) that prevents you from being able to do it.

When you're facing a situation where there are catches to something, the deal breaker is that one catch that you cannot overlook and/or tolerate.
After looking at this job offer, I could tolerate the lousy shifts, poor pay and even the job being not that great. Having to put up with a two hour drive two and from work every day? Sorry but that's the deal breaker.

Get the deal breaker mug.
When someone or something steals victory or otherwise robs you of your full potential in something.

Examples include:

1) You and another person are the only candidates for a single job opening. You're the more qualified candidate but the other person gets it because they know someone at the company.

2) Playing a racing game and you're about to make record lap time or course time only to get a lousy item which slows you down enough as to prevent setting said record.

3) Having grades just good enough to get into an excellent college. Then when writing an exam, you've done well only for the person grading it to give you a lousy mark (as in far below what you deserved for it) on an essay question. Said low mark lowers your GPA just enough as to disqualify you for the college you wanted.

4) Playing the lottery and missing the jackpot by a single digit.
1) That guy only got the job because his mother is the manager. I was robbed.

2) Dammit, I was about to score record time in this course and then I end up getting an item that slows me down! I was robbed!

3) I would have been able to get into an Ivy League college if it wasen't for the guy that graded my exam giving me such a lousy grade on the essay question in the final exam. I was robbed.

4) The numbers for jackpot were 2, 7, 16, 35 and 48. I had 2, 7, 16, 35 and 47! I was robbed!

Going beyond complaining about something. More like, carrying on about it as though whatever you're complaining about is as serious an offense as murder.
One Employee to another: I don't like layoffs either. Believe me, if they lay me off, I'll scream bloody murder too. But, there's nothing we can do about it.

When you've been doing something self destructive for some time (perhaps without realizing it) before something serious happens that forces you to come to terms with what you've been doing and that you need to stop.

Usually involves something medical but can involve anything serious.
He used to eat tons of junk food, stuff with all sorts of sugar, salty snack foods, you name it. It doesn't help that he rarely exercised. He didn't seem to get that even the manufacturers of those foods stress the importance of a balanced diet. His wake up call was a heart attack that almost killed him. Fortunately, he took it seriously and made a lot of changes to his lifestyle.

They used to seem like they had everything. They lived well beyond their means. Most people thought they were rich. It took almost losing their house for them to start opening their eyes and living within their means. It was a real wake up call.
