Get the Budda Buddamug. to talk passive aggressively about something without having the guts to take real action. ranting usually takes place behind someone's back or safely on the internet behind the computer screen. to rant is to talk big but to have little balls. ranting also refers to the politically and religiously self riteous who talk a bunch of useless bullshit that makes no difference but expects everyone to aggree.
some guy made a bunch of nasty racist rants on the internet because he knew if he did it face to face he would have gotten his fucken face kicked in.

A negative connotation for a unique characteristic to an advertisment, business, object, person,story, film, etc. that is unique for the sake of being unique or to draw attention. A gimmick normally holds no substance. Many products that try to be innovative and new that fail end up being labeled gimmicks. gimmicks sometimes end up becoming non gimmicks if it lasts through time and is proven itself worthy and becomes a tradition.
Mike Huckabee's wit is a gimmick. The band tool is a gimmick. the 3-d glasses are a gimmick. the strange twist ending to a movie is a gimmick. the video rental store's ad on tv with the sexy girls on it is a gimmick.

Some state film noir as a time period in which the film was made. others suggest it as a style of film may be characterized by dark imagery, showing the end at the beginning of the film, shadows, corruption, night life, violence, pessimism, detective films, voice over narration by the character, inevitable bad endings, a film strong on thought. film noir may cross many genres such as action, sci-fi, drama, suspense, thriller, action, and even romantic comedy. One of the first films to be defined as a film noir is The Maltese Falcon and one of the defining films is double indemnity.
