Pulling your leg

To pull someone's leg is when someone makes a potentially rude statement to another but is then later revealed to only be sarcastic.

Person 1: You are a miserable failure of a human.
Person 2: Wow! That is the worst thing anyone has said to me!
Person 3: I'm just pulling your leg, forget about it.
