pull a Tobin

Going away for a long, long (>3 hours) time when you say you're only going to be away for a very short time (e.g. 10-30 minutes).

Piet: Hey, I'm gonna be back in 10 minutes; gotta eat!
Henk: Okay!
*3 Hours later*
Piet: Hey, I'm back!
Henk: Don't pull a Tobin on me anymore, please...

pull a tobias

Finish early during the course of an evening, because the person is too drunk/tired to keep on drinking. Mostly the person finishes from around 11:00 pm to 01:00 am.

Example 1:
Person #1 "Where is Martin?"

Person #2 "Ah, he went home. He pulled a 'tobias'

Person #1 "*sigh* the profecy never fails"

Example 2:

Random person "Aw, look at Emil. He's so drunk, I think he is about to pull a tobias"
