When one has become unstable to the extent that they are numb to it.

She had been subject to ridicule all around her, waiting for a moment of peace for so long, that she had become patchrical. No longer living, simply existing. She was numb. All the voices surrounding her flowed past: meaningless words she'd chosen to stop hearing in a feeble attempt to achieve some sense of tranqullity.
