A computer patching strategy that is was invented to maximize the likelihood of outages, infuriate end-users, and disrupt the work/life balance of system administrators. This strategy is usually conceived by company executives as a knee-jerk reaction to some longstanding but previously-unknown threat, and with no input from (or regard for) the sysadmins responsible for implementing it.
"Why were all the systems down when everyone came into work Monday morning?"
"Patch Friday"

"Sorry guys, I can't go for beers. It's patch Friday."
