Omoku is a town in Rivers State, Nigeria with a population of about 200,000 people. It Is located in the northern part of Rivers state, near the boundary with Delta State and Imo State. It is the capital of the Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area and one of the major cities of the Ogba people. It is also the capital seat of the Oba of Ogba land. The indigenes speak the Ogba dialect of the Igboid language. Omoku is tagged the city of black gold because of the rich deposit of Crude Oil. The City produces the highest barrel of crude oil in the whole of Niger Delta exploitated by the Nigerian Agip Oil Company (NAOC).
Omoku is coined from an Ogba word, "Emoku," meaning, "Inside a fishing Area."
