metawork

Trivial or unnecessary work done to avoid having to perform the real task at hand while simultaneously taking the credit for it.

In the business world, metawork often manifests itself in the form of meetings, mission statements, project planning, or anything else that lets a person become part of the team without actually doing something productive.
Eight people were required to complete that project on-time, but six of them were only doing metawork. Had it only been the remaining two they would have finished it in half the time.

Lily: yes
Sam: So you are a metalrocker
Those who lock themselves in their rooms all day as they blast metal music all day.
Jimmy: Hey Sam! Sarah isn't answering the phone, is she gone?
Sam: Nah, she probably just didn't hear it, shes a metalock after all.

Metalcore

A blend of hardcore and metal music that evolved in the mid-to-late 90's with bands like Unbroken, Earth Crisis, Harvest, Endeavor, Poison The Well and Unearth. There is a liberal use of breakdowns in the music and the lyrical themes range from the political to the personal.

Often associated with the nu hardcore and fashioncore scenes.

Metalcore

Metalcore is a genre that has been around since the eighties but not totally popularized until the mid 90's with bands such as Unearth, the modern forerunners in the genre. It includes a mixture of hardcore punk and heavy metal and uses generally two guitarists, a bassist and double kick drums for the instrumentals. Many bands use more than one singer, one generally for more melodic lines and the other, lead singer, who carries many of the vocal burden and usually "screams".
Metalcore bands include: 36 Crazyfists, As I Lay Dying, Bleeding Through, Bloodsimple, Diecast, God Forbid, Haste The Day, Hatebreed, Lamb of God, Norma Jean, Still Remains, Unearth, Walls of Jericho.

metalcore kid

how to spot a metalcore kid:

dress: tight, faded fashioncore band shirts (most likely to have the band name in front of a pool of blood) tight, faded/ripped jeans that cost way too much, bandana around neck or mouth, white studded belt.

appearance: shaved head/mid length hair covering eye, stupid looking tunnels in earlobes the sixe of your pinky, lip and/or eyebrow piercings optional.

music: Usually whatever faux metal/hardcore band it's cool to like at the time. Nowadays, it's Norma Jean, Underoath, Atreyu, etc.

dance: Hardcore dancing (Swinging your arms and legs around in a vain attempt to look HxC)

attitude: An air of great superiority due to their apparently "flawless" taste in music and fashion.

Screen name: includes too many X's, words like "gun", "bang", and "kill". Often including their current favorite band's name.

Known to take oddly angled myspace pictures that all look the same, edit them in photoshop, then post 20 of them on their HxC pimped out Myspace.
