melirush

the feeling more neurodivergent people feel, platonically for someone. typically could be confused with a crush or falling in love but actually lacks the romantic feelings. the idea of wanting to be around them and doing things together is enticing but there is not an actual "next step" the individual would want to take.

as far as I can tell, neurotypical people don't experience it very much as often as neurodivergent people do. addition to that neurotypical people might refer to this as a "bestfriend" or "wanting to be friends", when in fact the emotion/want feels deeper than that.

melirush would/could be used as a replacement for the old 2010's tumblr phrase "im in like with you".

meli comes from the word "meliora" in latin. when translated to english it means "for better than, better, like, better things, things continuing to improve".
rush comes from "crush" due to the overlapping (and sometimes disconcerting) feelings .
Y/N: "no im not into them like that.. its just a melirush"
Y/N: "i think im starting to form a melirush for them.."
Y/N: "im v meli rn" (translation with the word crush: im very much crushing right now)
